In de Verenigde Staten is (weer) een hooglopende discussie ontstaan, nadat een beeldredacteur een voetbalster wegretoucheerde uit een actiefoto.
John Long van de National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) merkt hierover het volgende op: "The power of a photograph comes from the reality. That’s what makes the photo work. So you didn’t get the perfect picture, but it’s a real photograph. Leave it in. You’ve been privileged to be a witness of history and as such you don’t have a right to change it."
